Zach Sundquist at the Rockford airport has communicated that he hopes to have tickets on sale late this week or early next week. Watch for an email from Judy. I’ll also post the info here and on our Facebook page.
Here’s the latest email update from Judy:
I gave Zach Sundquist, the administrative assistant at the RFD airport a call yesterday. I needed an update about where we stood on our proposed trip to Paducah in April. I no longer need to call it “possible or proposed” trip. WE ARE GOING TO PADUCAH!! He reported that he received over 275 notes and emails from interested quilters. We have enough quilters to fill 2 planes and possibly a third. Now, they believe me!! A big Thank You to all of those of you who wrote a note to Zach. The notes were what was needed to convince the airport of our desire and sincerity about our wish to fly to Paducah this spring.
A third flight may be added on Thursday, April 22. He stated that the Friday and Saturday flights must be sold out before they will sell tickets for the Thurs flight. The aircraft, a DC-9, will already be at the airport on that Thursday. So, no waiting for our airplane to arrive from somewhere else. I told him we are all anxious to purchase our tickets as I can tell from some recent emails. I told him we HAVE TO know when and how to buy them no later than April 1st. I must know the totals so I can order the advance admission tickets to the show, museum, programs, etc. He repeated to me that no tickets can be sold prior to the Dept of Transportation approval. He asked for my patience for 10 more days. And I ask for yours.
I will ask another favor of all of you. I sent out an email this past weekend with an update about the trip. I have received some phone calls and a few emails stating that they haven’t heard from me for a while. If you receive this email, please reply to me that you received it. If you are in a mini group or guild or are going with a friend, etc., please call them to ask if they received it as well. I do not want anyone to miss out on this opportunity we have all waited for just because my computer didn’t talk to hers. Also, ask them to check their spam files. I have received only a few emails back that were undeliverable and those were corrected. Thanks!! My email address is catquiltr@aol.com.
I promise to keep you all informed as soon as I receive any information. For now, we are Paducah bound!!!!!!
Urgent note from Judy:
I awoke to a phone call from Zach Sundquist, the administrative assistant at the Rockford Airport that I am working with planning our Paducah trip. He reported to me that he had received 84 letters of support this past weekend in response to my email last week. A big thank you for those of you that responded.
I apologize again for the error I typed in my email of Zachs email address, as I heard from many of you experienced difficulty with sending your note to him. If you have not yet sent your short note to him or it was returned as undeliverable, please do so today. His address is zsundquist@flyrfd.com.
I know there is interest and excitement about our proposed trip to Paducah. The 366 quilters that signed up for more information tells me that. Word of our trip is spreading. But the airline is looking at this trip from a business perspective and 84 quilters does not fill an airplane. If you are considering flying with us to Paducah for the quilt show, it is imperative that you share that wish with the airport soon or our trip may be canceled before it has a chance to get off the ground. Feel free to call me at 815-621-2747 if you have any questions. Let’s show them we really want to go !!! Judy
