Cheap Trick challenge quilts are also due on April 6th. Turn your quilt into Cindy Larsen at the afternoon or evening meeting. If you will not be at the meeting, please call Cindy to arrange for drop off/pick up.

It’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is so close! That means the Guild Christmas party is soon to follow onchristmas_tree_quilt December 1st at 1:00 and 7:00.

  1. Our annual potluck is planned. Table captains have volunteered to decorate their tables with tablecloths or placemats, center pieces, dinnerware and utensils. For those whose name ends with A – M, please bring something savory to share. Those members whose name ends with N – Z, please share something sweet. Beverages will be provided by the Hospitality committee.
  2. Wear something Festive. Your favorite holiday sweater, sweatshirt or vest. That crazy necklace that lights up, ornament earrings, I think you get the idea.
  3. Playing Strip Poker. You will be able to keep all of your clothes on. We will be exchanging 2 1/2 inch strips of fabric in a fun way. Please bring 10 – 12 strips of fabric that are cut 2 1/2 inches wide by WOF (width of fabric). Any color or theme, solid or print. It will be fun to collect a variety of strips.
  4. Ornament exchange. On a 6 1/2 inch block of white or a tone on tone white fabric, please make an ornament with the pattern that was provided. Any technique is okay, hand or machine applique, fused, wool, painted, embellished, etc. Use your imagination to decorate that ornament. A fun exchange is planned. Click HERE to print the pattern.
  5. Show and Tell. Make sure to bring those finished projects that will be given as Christmas gifts for us to enjoy too.

Thursday, August 4th:

Stockings for Soldiers Sew-in and New Board Member Trunk Show

9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.: We hope to have at least 1200 stockings to send to our deployed military personnel. We’ll need as many as possible to start serging at 9:00 a.m. We have plenty of other jobs including turning stockings right side out, cutting tops, pinning cuffs and tabs to stockings, sewing cuffs on with regular sewing machines (a walking foot may be beneficial), turning cuffs right side out, counting our progress, packing the stockings in boxes, and writing Christmas cards. If you can spare any of the boxes of the type which hold 10 packages of copy paper, please bring them when you come. We also need some old sheets or table cloths for linings even if they have tears or spots and Christmas fabric. Please bring machines, sergers, scissors, rotary cutters, mats, or whatever you might use. If you have one of the guild’s acrylic stocking patterns, we’ll need it. Whether you can do a little or a lot, come enjoy the day with us. You will want to plan to take a break for your lunch—either a sack lunch, a nearby restaurant, or whatever suits you best. Hospitality will have drinks available. Bethesda Covenant Church
