She shares her enthusiasm for quilting through interactive lectures and workshops. As a writer, Gyleen centers on haiku poetry, quilt project books, magazine articles and children’s books.

1:00: Make Mine With Scraps
Focus on traditional utility quilts. Use up, cut up or recycle what you have on hand to make stunning quilts. Learn to harmonize exchange and friendship blocks or clear your clutter with strips and squares.

7:00: Unfinished Stories with New Beginnings
A visual transformation of 1930’s through 1950’s unfinished tops and blocks to finished quilts with unpredictable endings using fabrics of today. Be inspired to begin the perfect journey with your collection of blocks.

Stripper’s MysterySo what do you get when you combine 20 strips of fabric with one absolutely fantastic focus fabric? You are the only one that knows and this is your mystery to solve. The layouts are fun, fast and endless. The quilts range from 25″ to 50″. You can chose Half-Square Triangles, 16-Patch, Chinese coins or Pyramids (to name a few) to solve the mystery. So get out your Sherlock Homes attitude and begin the Stripper’s Mystery. Full Day.

Let’s make an old fashion favorite pineapple quilt with a new and contemporary twist. Effortless stitching without paper piecing! Go scrappy, random or totally stylized it doesn’t matter just plan to join the Pineapple Par-tay! This workshop turns trash to a treasured one of a kind pineapple quilt. Full Day.

IMPORTANT DEADLINES

Quilt Show registration forms are due NO LATER than April 6th. Turn your form in at the afternoon or evening guild meeting or mail to Robin Gausebeck. Remember, your quilt does not need to be finished by April 6th, but the picture you include with the registration form needs to identify the quilt by color and pattern. Click HERE to download and print the form.

Cheap Trick challenge quilts are also due on April 6th. Turn your quilt into Cindy Larsen at the afternoon or evening meeting. If you will not be at the meeting, please call Cindy to arrange for drop off/pick up.

We have several quilt show volunteer slots left to fill. Most shifts are 2 hours and there are many sit-down jobs if you can’t stand for long periods. Sign up at the April 6th guild meeting or contact Colleen Magee.

Special Projects & More (SPAM): We’ll be having a sew-in to make mittens from sweaters and fleece. All you need to bring is your machine and thread. The plan is to donate them to the Rescue Mission, Mothers House or Carpenters Place to enjoy the rest of the winter season. It’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is so close! That means the Guild Christmas party is soon to follow onchristmas_tree_quilt December 1st at 1:00 and 7:00.

  1. Our annual potluck is planned. Table captains have volunteered to decorate their tables with tablecloths or placemats, center pieces, dinnerware and utensils. For those whose name ends with A – M, please bring something savory to share. Those members whose name ends with N – Z, please share something sweet. Beverages will be provided by the Hospitality committee.
  2. Wear something Festive. Your favorite holiday sweater, sweatshirt or vest. That crazy necklace that lights up, ornament earrings, I think you get the idea.
  3. Playing Strip Poker. You will be able to keep all of your clothes on. We will be exchanging 2 1/2 inch strips of fabric in a fun way. Please bring 10 – 12 strips of fabric that are cut 2 1/2 inches wide by WOF (width of fabric). Any color or theme, solid or print. It will be fun to collect a variety of strips.
  4. Ornament exchange. On a 6 1/2 inch block of white or a tone on tone white fabric, please make an ornament with the pattern that was provided. Any technique is okay, hand or machine applique, fused, wool, painted, embellished, etc. Use your imagination to decorate that ornament. A fun exchange is planned. Click HERE to print the pattern.
  5. Show and Tell. Make sure to bring those finished projects that will be given as Christmas gifts for us to enjoy too.
