AUGUST 4, 2016: Stockings for Soldiers Sew-in and New Board Member Trunk Show
9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.: STOCKINGS FOR SOLDIERS SEW-IN. We hope to have at least 1200 stockings to send to our deployed military personnel. We’ll need as many as possible to start serging at 9:00 a.m. We have plenty of other jobs including turning stockings right side out, cutting tops, pinning cuffs and tabs to stockings, sewing cuffs on with regular sewing machines (a walking foot may be beneficial), turning cuffs right side out, counting our progress, packing the stockings in boxes, and writing Christmas cards. If you can spare any of the boxes of the type which hold 10 packages of copy paper, please bring them when you come. We also need some old sheets or table cloths for linings even if they have tears or spots and Christmas fabric. Please bring machines, sergers, scissors, rotary cutters, mats, or whatever you might use. If you have one of the guild’s acrylic stocking patterns, we’ll need it. Whether you can do a little or a lot, come enjoy the day with us. You will want to plan to take a break for your lunch—either a sack lunch, a nearby restaurant, or whatever suits you best. Hospitality will have drinks available.
