About Barb: Barb Vlack has turned a passion for quiltmaking into a second career. She has become internationally known for her work with The Electric Quilt Company through the internet and her travels and was invited to do a three-week teaching tour in japan in 1999. Patchwork Quilt Tsushin, one of the major quilting magazines in japan, published her column about quilt designing and the computer in 1998-1999. The Electric Quilt Company has published three books written by Bar to supplement their manuals: Too Much Fun (1997), EQ4 Magic (1999), and EQ5 Quilt Design (2003). She is currently writing a tips and tricks book to accompany EQ6.
Barb designs and makes quilts and has had her work published in several quilting magazines as well as the cover of Keepsake Quilting catalog (1998). APRIL 2011: Caron Carlson (website)
Thursday, April 7 Program: “Caron’s Quilt Journey and Trunk Show”
Friday, April 8 Workshop: Caron will share with us a method she calls Curvlique (pronounced curve-li-q). Is it curved piecing? Is it appliqué? It’s both! She will teach the technique of joining curved pieces invisibly without stitching on the top of the work, so invisible is truly the word for it! The sample shares different styles of this method so you can adapt it to your own project. This is a great tool for any quilter’s bag of tricks!
About Caron: She is a 50-ish mother of two grown boys, twins, and married to an engineering physicist, Kermit. She lives in Batavia, IL on the old family farm (or what’s left of it!) on 4 1/2 acres. She doesn’t even garden, but she tries! She designs quilt patterns and by going to her website, you will see exactly what makes her tick!

JUNE 2011: Aniko Feher (website)
Thursday, June 2 Program: “From Closet Quilter to Portrait Artist (My quilts and the stories behind them)”
Friday, June 3 and Saturday June 4 Workshop: “From Photo to Quilt”, 12 hour class, 2 days. A step-by-step class to teach you how to turn your own favorite portrait photo into a treasured quilt.
About Aniko: Born and raised in Hungary, quilting was an unknown art form to her. All her life she loved to draw people and their faces. It fascinated her that behind every face there was a life story. Yet a portrait is a moment in time that captures the whole person. When she came to the United States, she discovered quilting rather accidently at an art fair. She remembers how that quilt immediately attracted me with its colors and softness. At first she tried teaching herself quilting at home. Later on she realized there were such things as guilds and classes, but by that time it was too late. She was off doing her own thing….
