THINKING OF MAKING AND/OR STUFFING A CHRISTMAS STOCKING FOR OUR SOLDIERS?
HERE ARE SOME SUGGESTED STOCKING STUFFERS

Individually-wrapped hard candy
Small hand-held games
Individual packs of tissues
Razors - both men's and women's
Non-aerosol shaving cream
Individual-size shampoo or soap
Deoderant
Individually-packaged toothbrushes or small tubes of toothpaste
Combs and haribrushes
Nail clippers and files
Playing cards
Pens and pencils
Small note pads
Plastic body scrubbers
Small bottles of unscented lotion
White athletic socks
Black socks
CDs - new or used
DVDs - new or used
Christmas card (Margaret puts a card in every stocking she makes with a small note of holiday wishes)
Small toys - just something silly
Phone cards

If you take a 15" strip of fabric and hold the ends together, anything that will slide through the opening will fit in the stocking. The dollar stores area a good place to shop for cheap fun things. Packages with multiple items (e.g. 4 plastic scrubbers) are particularly good values.

A VERY SPECIAL "HOME OF THE BRAVE" PRESENTATION

On July 6, 2006, the Sinnissippi Quilt Guild celebrated the 4th of July with a special program. Sandy Carstenson, Iowa coordinator for the national "Home of the Brave" quilt program spoke to both sessions about how she got started with "Home of the Brave" and her other efforts to supply pillowcases and Christmas stockings to soldiers stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

As part of the program, this wonderful quilt was presented to Gayle Naschansky, mother of Lance Corporal Andrew Patton from Byron, IL who was killed in Iraq on December 1, 2005.
